League expresses concern over reports of shelling Zamzam camp for displaced persons in Darfur

​The League of Arab States expresses deep concern over reports of the indiscriminate bombing of the Zamzam camp for displaced persons in North Darfur State, which has tragically resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Such actions represent a blatant violation of international humanitarian law. 

Aboul Gheit participates in closing ceremony of League's training programme for Kuwaiti second-tier diplomats

​Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, presided over the closing ceremony held on 5 December at the League’s headquarters, marking the conclusion of a specialised training course conducted by the General Secretariat for a group of second-tier diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait. During the ceremony, the Secretary-General presented certificates of participation to the diplomats, recognising their engagement in the programme, which spanned 1–5 December.

​On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, observed annually on 3 December, which would typically be a moment for celebration, the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States (Social Affairs Sector) draws attention to the devastating circumstances undermining this commemoration. In light of the inhumane and brutal actions perpetrated by Israel, the occupying power, which have escalated to unprecedented levels, the Gaza Strip is witnessing a significant and tragic rise in the number of martyrs and wounded. Consequently, there has been a sharp increase in the number of persons with disabilities, whose plight remains difficult to assess or categorise due to restricted access and limited intervention capacities. This dire reality is compounded by the challenging humanitarian conditions in the Republic of Lebanon and the ongoing escalation of events in the Syrian Arab Republic.

General Secretariat organises First Arab Conference on Development of Agricultural Exports in Light of GAFTA Advantages

​In alignment with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States' commitment to advancing inter-Arab trade, particularly in agricultural exports, and in furtherance of the "Supporting the Arab Economic Integration System" project under the second phase of the Aid for Trade Programme (AFTIAS 0.2), funded by the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), the Economic Affairs Sector—Arab Economic Integration Department—hosted the "First Arab Conference on the Development of Agricultural Exports in Light of the Advantages Granted within the Framework of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area." General Secretariat holds 14th Arab Conference on Blood Transfusion Medicine

Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity launches Arab Common Market for Electricity

​The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States inaugurated the Arab Common Electricity Market in a historic event that underscores the depth of joint Arab cooperation in the energy sector. The occasion took place during the 15th session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity, attended by the Ministers of Electricity and Energy from Jordan, Bahrain, Tunisia, Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, and Egypt. The launch of the Arab Common Electricity Market marks a strategic milestone in advancing Arab integration in the electricity sector. The agreement was signed by the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Sudan, the Syrian Arab Republic, the State of Palestine, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, the State of Libya, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Morocco, and the Republic of Yemen.
