At its extraordinary session held on 4 July, the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of permanent delegates discussed the continued and escalating brutal Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in all cities, camps, and villages, including the ongoing brutal Israeli aggression against Jenin camp and other areas in the occupied West Bank. The meeting tackled ways of effective action at the Arab and international levels to stop this Israeli aggression, hold the perpetrators accountable, and provide international protection for the Palestinian people.

Chaired by Ambassador Mohamed Mustafa Orfi, Permanent Representative of the Arab Republic of Egypt (presidency of the 159th session), the meeting was attended by permanent delegates and heads of delegations. Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Al-Amin Ould Akik, Assistant Secretary-General, and head of Legal Affairs Department, was also present at the meeting.

The meeting was held at the request of the State of Palestine and in coordination with the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, pursuant to the provisions of Article 5, paragraph (5/b) of the League Council's bylaws, which allows the Council to meet in an extraordinary session at the request of two-member states.
