The Arab General Insurance Federation was established in Cairo in September 1964 in response to the desire of many Arab insurance and insurance and reinsurance companies. The General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of the Arab Countries (121), held in Cairo, Egypt, on May 29, 2016 decided that the new name of the Union shall be the Union of Arab Chambers instead of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of the Arab Countries.
