The meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, 158th Ordinary Session

The 158th Ordinary Session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level was held on Tuesday 6/9/2022 at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Cairo. The meeting was headed by Her Excellency Naglaa El Manqoush, the Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, with the participation of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and heads of delegations of Member States, and in the presence of His Excellency Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. The Council approved the agenda of the session, which comprised nine items, including on new work plans, decisions submitted to the Council following deliberation, as well as draft decisions presented to the Council by permanent delegates following their meeting on 4-5/9/2022. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Ambassador Abdulmutallab Idris Thabet, Permanent Representative of Libya to the League of Arab States, with the participation of permanent delegates and heads of delegations of Member States, and in the presence of His Excellency Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. Three ministerial committees convened on the sidelines of the Council meeting: 1. The 18th meeting of the Quartet Arab Ministerial Committee concerned with following up on developments in the crisis with Iran and the means to address its interference in the domestic affairs of Arab countries. 2. The fifth meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee concerned with following up on Turkish intervention in the internal affairs of Arab countries. 3. The fifth meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee concerned with adopting measures to stop the Israeli practices in the occupied city of Jerusalem.
